We zipped straight into this village project in Warmington, near Peterborough, where a public playground looked forlorn and unloved. The only piece of existing play equipment at the site was a solitary zip wire, standing in a sprawling field. After making the location safe and preventing access, we set about saving the day by installing two of our most popular pieces of timber playground equipment: a climbing stack and basket swing.
Warmington Playground
THE BRIEF
A callback from a repeat client
The brief was far from simple – it must have inclusive elements, a range of textures and colours, an area designated We revisited Warmington village, where our parish council client was keen to expand the field playground. The installation of additional equipment was high on the agenda, but our expert recommendations were needed. We jumped at the chance to maximise the potential for play within a modest budget. And, having worked on numerous designs and playground installations for Warmington Parish Council, we were quietly confident that our wish-list would meet their approval.
THE DESIGN
Climbing stack and basket swing suggestions
Warmington Parish Council reviewed our sketches and photographs of similar projects, all of which had been achieved for modest budgets and in similar semi-rural settings. A timber climbing stack with teal netting and ropes was our top recommendation, followed by a group-sized basket swing. We priced both pieces of timber playground equipment with robust steel feet for greater longevity, which is especially relevant in grassy settings such as this.
THE RESULTS
We’re experts in our fun field
Children who loved the lonesome zip wire can now enjoy extended playtime, thanks to our climbing stack and adjoining basket swing. Tastefully designed in chunky timber, the new equipment blends into the field location with ease. Grass matting was laid beneath both structures to add a layer of stability and quality. These rubber mats will blend into the earth, becoming increasingly inconspicuous as the grass grows back.
