Playground Surfacing

Playscape offers a variety of surfacing solutions and can help you select the best options for your specific playground. All surfacing installations are carried out by enhanced DBS-checked staff members and in compliance with BS EN1177 standards.

What is the Safest Playground Surface?

The safest playground surface is the correct playground surface; that is to say, the one that is best suited to the equipment and activities taking place on that surface. For example, any climbing equipment should have a soft surface to land on, in which case play grade bark or rubber wetpour would be an ideal choice. Play zones used for learning or creative activities might benefit from artificial grass, as it is a more comfortable and clean surface for children to sit on.

When you work with Playscape, our team will advise you of the best surfacing choices for your playground’s requirements and budget.

Play Grade Bark

Play grade bark or woodchip is a natural alternative for impact-absorbing play surfacing, offering a rustic cosmetic appearance and cost-effective surfacing method for play or leisure areas.

Rubber Wetpour

Wetpour surfacing is made up of a spongy impact-absorbing rubber safety surface. As well as keeping children safe from slips and falls, wetpour can be laid out in colourful and imaginative designs.

Bonded Rubber Mulch

Resin-bound rubber mulch is a durable, recycled, bonded rubber playground surface that is designed to resemble woodchip. It is a hard-wearing surface designed for use in heavy footfall play areas.

Playground Artificial Grass

Artificial grass can create a beautiful and safe all-weather outdoor learning or exercise environment. Available in different shades and thicknesses. Woven from quality materials, it requires minimal maintenance.

Playground Grass Mats

Manufactured out of durable rubber, grass mats are ideal for heavy footfall areas. They allow grass to grow through and can be mown straight over, making it easy to maintain a nice-looking playground.

Playpave is a water-permeable surface comprising recycled rubber granules mixed with binder. It’s a more colourful and attractive alternative to concrete or tarmac, and it has anti-slip properties.

Playground resurfacing

As well as installing surfaces for new playgrounds, we also repair and replace existing safety play surfacing, damaged artificial grass, tarmac and concrete, or advise on an alternative surface better suited to the area.
