Race Report - Round 10
HARDY AT THE DOUBLE
AS JUX CHANDLER CLINCHES JUNIOR TITLE...
CADETS
All of a sudden, the penny drops. All of a sudden all the Monday
night training and attention to detail manifests itself as race wins
and more importantly winning finals. Harry Hardy has hit a rich vein
of form and followed up his maiden win last month to produce back to
back podium topping performances.
With his main rival James Beumee missing from the field, Andre
Aguirre Conde was more relaxed and clinched pole position for the
final with 3 wins. He was matched by Harry Hardy and the ever lively
Jonas Moore, and the much improved Red Carter closed out the front
two rows of the grid.
The closest races featured Aguirre Conde and Jack Bone, spoils
shared at one win each against each other, but Bone was unable to
match the consistency of the Championship leader and fell away into
the B Final.
From the start Hardy was able to pinch the lead from Aguirre Conde
as the inevitable shuffle for position saw Robert Staines surge from
grid 7 to third place on lap one, with Jonas Moore snapping at his
heels. Indeed on lap 2 both Andre and Jonas were able to take the
lead and 3rd place respectively, only for Hardy and Staines to
respond with quick laps to take the places back again.
The 2 leaders then circumnavigated at the same punishing pace for a
further 5 laps until Harry Hardy cemented his win with the fastest
lap of the day and Staines edged away from Moore to clinch 3rd
place.
Hard to see a loser on the podium. Obvious delight from winner
Hardy, champion ship leader Aguirre Conde equals his best points
round of the season to stay in front overall, and Staines charge
from the back most satisfying.

JUNIORS
Last month we were impressed with the qualifying pace of pint
sized George Skitini and he was at it again topping the qualifiers
with some jet heeled starts and just one defeat out of 5 races.
Again he was shadowed by champion elect Conor Jux Chandler and
Kieran Golding produced his best performance of the season for 3rd
place with Nick Walker back on grid 4. Nick opened with 3 wins but a
fierce clash with Ryan Lehane was to prove costly in the hunt for
pole position.
From the start of the final Conor was able to edge around George and
take a lead he never looked likely to surrender, banging in lap
after lap and never letting up the pace until the final lap, by
which time he had built up a huge 8 second gap.
Meanwhile, Skitini took 3 laps to find his pace and gently drew away
from Nick Walker and Andy Rrapo, all 3 drivers having to slow
through the back markers towards the end of the race which allowed
the rapidly improving Dzogbe Akpoblu to close up to the battle for
third place.
So Conor Jux Chandler clinched the junior title in devastating form
with one round still to go, George Skitini underlined his potential
for a tilt at the 2009 championship in 2nd place and Nick Walker
again produced the goods against the odds for 3rd place.
